Vickie J. Scott has created lighting and scenic designs for dance, theater and themed entertainment throughout the US and abroad. Recent work includes: SARAYA NIGHTS in Aqaba, Jordan; XAYRON: THE LEGEND in Budapest, Hungary; and FLORALAND a theme park in Chengdu, China; and six years as the Resident Lighting Designer for the Ojai Playwrights Conference in beautiful Ojai, California.
For dance, her work includes a recent month long performance tour of Italy with the UC Santa Barbara Dance Company; the evening length productions RELATIVE / DISTANCE, ONE and SOMEWHERE BETWEEN FALLING AND THE GROUND which tour nationally; the world premiere of CHANDALIKA, a dance-drama based on the writing of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore; and the American tour of KAGURA (Yamabushi Kagura of Mt. Hayachine), a performance of traditional Japanese dance and music. Vickie is the Chairperson of the Advisory Board for The California Arts Project (TCAP), the Commissioner of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology’s Lighting Design Commission (USITT), and is a member of the United Scenic Artists Local 829. She is a graduate of the School of Theater, Film and Television at UCLA with Master of Fine Arts degrees in both Lighting Design and Technical Direction and is the Director of the Design Program in the Department of Theater and Dance at UC Santa Barbara.
