In celebration of Sonny Sonnenfeld’s enthusiastic mission of training the theatrical lighting designers, technicians and sales force of tomorrow, Scott Parker is thrilled to offer the “Sonny Sonnenfeld Memorial Scholarship as my way of paying it forward. Sonny offered me a scholarship to the first Broadway Lighting Master Class and became a mentor.” Parker adds “with this scholarship we will be able to welcome several students who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford the registration fee.” To apply for scholarships, please visit: https://stageseminars.com/registration/scholarships
Sonny was a theatrical lighting salesman, a teacher, an author, and a practitioner. Sonny was the New York City sales manager for Century Lighting (now Strand), a partner in Lighting & Electronics, and a sales representative for Colortran, ETC, Wybron, and again at Strand. Sonny founded the Broadway Lighting Master Classes. Sonny interfaced, on a regular basis, with theatre consultants, Broadway lighting designers, architects, consulting engineers, and architectural lighting designers. He has contributed to the professional development of many of today’s leading architectural lighting designers. He also enjoyed creating the lighting designs for many non-professional shows.
