Barbizon Lighting Company Sponsors Scholarships for Stage Lighting Super Saturday
For 15 years stage lighting enthusiasts have attended this intensive all-day seminar led by leading theatre lighting professionals. This year's special guest is Tony Award winning Lighting Designer Jennifer Tipton will lead a panel discussion of fellow noted lighting designers. Past panelists have included Natasha Katz, Howell Binkley, Don Holder, Ken Billington, and Brian MacDevitt – also all winners of the Tony Award for Best Lighting Design.
“Developing programs that provide educational opportunities for the next generation of the lighting industry is a priority for Barbizon Lighting and has long been one of our guiding principles,” said Barbizon Lighting’s President and CEO Tom Madden. “These scholarships provide access and financial support to students who show promise and passion in the field but are not otherwise able to afford admission. The experience allows these promising students the rare opportunity to glean wisdom and inspiration from accomplished industry veterans. Barbizon Lighting hopes these scholarship recipients will someday grow into the industry-leading lighting designers that we see and read about.”
As in past years, this one-day seminar focuses on training and inspiration. The seminar includes:
- Intensive all-day experience led by leading theatre lighting professionals
- Lighting 101 workshops for beginners and new professionals
- Leading manufacturers and technical specialists will demo new gear and be available to discuss details of all their equipment.
