Stage Lighting Super Saturday
Jeremy KuminJeremy Kumin has designed the lighting for plays, musicals, opera, dance, video, fashion shows, and many other events. Working as a freelance designer based in New York City from '89-'08, some of the highlights of his design career include: American Dreams: Lost and Found, for The Acting Company's 30th Season; Candide at the Yale Dramatic Association; Playhouse Creatures at People's Light and Theatre; Free Food and Frontal Nudity at San Francisco's Cable Car Theatre; 431 of My Closest Friends for Jewish Repertory Theatre; Dammit, Shakespeare! at Westbeth Theatre Center; In A Clean House at the Theatre Row Theatre. He was a regular designer for 29th Street Rep, who commissioned him to light The Censor, Bobby Supreme, and their critically acclaimed productions of Pig by Tammy Ryan, and Killer Joe. Jeremy has designed and toured with a variety of dance companies including the American Indian Dance Theatre, the Laura Dean Dancers and Musicians, Carlota Santana Spanish Dance Arts Company, and for the last 7 years, Notes in Motion/Amanda Selwyn Dance Theater. Jeremy has also taught lighting at such institutions as NYU, Brandeis, SUNY Purchase, and guest-designed at Muhlenberg College, The UNC School of the Arts, Duke, Harvard and Yale. The most recent chapter of this journey began when Australian based Enttec Pty Ltd, a manufacturer of theatrical lighting control products convinced him to represent them in the United States. While wearing a number of hats for them now, he still designs when he can find the time, but spends a great deal more time educating, troubleshooting, and consulting about lighting control systems and networks, including some cutting edge technology such as Remote Device Management, DMX over Ethernet, and much more.
